LUNA Backpackers Hostel

Esteli is 2.5 hours north of Managua, by bus. Probably 1.5 hours by car. Esteli is a very safe and welcoming city.

From Honduras to Esteli takes about 1.5-2 hrs by local bus.

From Leon, there are microbuses that take just 2.5 hrs, on the cross-country route. Regular buses take up to 4 hours.

Arriving by BUS:

Take a local taxi, on leaving the Esteli bus stations/Shell gas station. This should cost no more than C$8-10 per person.

After 7pm the charge will be C$10/C$20p.p. 

The last fast bus leaves Managua to Esteli at 5.45pm from the Mayoreo Terminal (Journey time 2.5hrs)

The last bus from Ocotal to Esteli leaves by about 5pm please check. (journey time 1.5hrs)

Arriving by CAR:

There is a garage nearby for secure night parking.

Directions: In Esteli, Coming from the south, heading north, after passing the Shell gas station on your left hand side, turn left at Fono Centre, just where SINSA Hardware is on your right.

Continue straight on for 4 blocks until you meet the stop sign behind the cathedral. Turn right here (at Moto Repuestas San Cristobal) and Hospedaje Luna/Cafe LUZ are the two houses at the end of this same block, painted red/pink.
